JOIN US as we #WalkWithAmal for “Light My Way!” In solidarity with displaced and refugee members of our community, we are teaming up with Project Row Houses, Community Artist Collective, Urban Souls, U.S. Dream Academy, SAID Institute: The Pan African Library and S.H.A.P.E. Community Center to produce an event that speaks to our collective struggle and solidarity.
In Light My Way featuring Little Amal, Amal joins others who have been pulled from their homes. As night begins to fall, they follow the stars and bright lights in search of safety. Our journey with Little Amal will begin at Project Row Houses and conclude at Emancipation Park, in 3rd Ward, Houston.
The Ensemble Theatre is interested in teaming up with additional individual volunteers and community partners for various efforts including hosting educational events to create art that will be used in our “Light My Way” production. If you are interested in joining our effort, please contact: rhdickson@EnsembleHouston.com
Over nine weeks, Amal will be welcomed by 1,500-plus artists at more than 100 artistic events across 37 towns and cities. Amal’s journey begins in Boston on September 7th and culminates in San Diego on November 5th. Along the way, Amal will visit Boston, Ashfield, North Adams, Hartford, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Dearborn, Flint, Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Birmingham, Selma, Montgomery, New Orleans, Lafayette, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Uvalde, Marfa, El Paso, Nogales, Tucson, Joshua Tree, Los Angeles and San Diego.
By walking with Amal, you are helping to unite not just your communities, but also joining a national and international network that focuses attention on the urgent needs of marginalized people around the globe.
